All our life we come across so many situations, ones we like, dislike, cherish, despise etc. Life as a whole is a big pot of experiences that break us, teach us and mold us into an individual.
This article is aimed at expressing my thoughts on my belief in the notion that “Whatever happens; happens for a reason”. A “Master Plan” if u may! I feel the best way to demonstrate this is by using basic scientific and logical examples that are well within reasonable limits, as an instrument to conclude the same for situations that begin to unravel well beyond the understanding of mortals and the theories and principles of modern science.
Science is the best way to prove Cause and effect. It very easily shows that everything happens for a reason. Let me demonstrate with a few examples.
Gravity, we all know if you leave an object freely in air, it will fall to the ground. This is a definite fact because we know that gravity is present between the earth and the ball.
Likewise we know that if we get a magnet is brought too close to iron filings, both will attract each other.
Electricity is undoubtedly the best understood among the 4 force of nature. You connect a bulb to two opposite electric poles of a source and you have light. That does not make you God!!. We know how it works (at least most of us do) and so we are not surprised.
The point I am trying to make here is that we have understood and fully acknowledge the major forces of nature (gravity, magnetism, electricity and nuclear forces). There are well defined principles, theorems, proofs and mathematics to provide a thorough and sufficient (Although NOT complete) understanding of these forces. Hence when we obtain a result (e.g. the ball falling to the ground, the fillings getting attracted, the bulb glowing) we know the reasons behind it.
In fact in this day and age science and mathematics is so advanced that we can not only understand the working of these systems but also accurately predict the outcome of an experiment, given that certain conditions are maintained. This is because there is a very certain Formula governing these systems and knowing the formula for a given input we can calculate an output.
Similarly I believe that our life is also governed by one enormous formula, so complex that we can only understand “Cause and Effect” in bits and pieces (E.g. our mundane activities). The inputs to this Super complex formula could be your past and Present. And obviously your output is you’re present and Future. It’s a closed loop system (Possibly explained by this diagram)
Now let’s talk about day to day simple and straight forward. I’m talking about events that work on simple logic. If you stand in front of a speeding car; you meet with an accident. If u study well for your exams; you get better scores. If you leave late for work; you’re bound to reach late. These are simple systems that work on basic logic and reasoning. Another understanding of cause and effect
I hope and am pretty confident that most readers of this article will agree with whatever I have put down so far and that I have proved my point on causes and its effects. We can see for ourselves that many of the daily occurrences have a very definite reason to it. In other words “Whatever happens; happens for a reason”. I wish to stress on the point that we accept this concept readily without much fuss because we can see, feel or experience such events first hand, which by far is strong evidence, given the Scientific and logical reasoning backing it up.
Now coming to the topic that really got me to write this article, So far we have talked about events that we can understand and relate to and so we easily accept it without question. Now let us talk about events that we do not understand, events that affect us mentally and physically because they are of emotional value to us.
Events like the loss of a loved one, break-ups. It always surprises us as to how life would be so different without that person around, we wonder why such things happen, sometimes curse our fate, sometimes mournfully accept it, but most of the time we are unable to understand the significance of the situation or the reason for such a dreadful event happening.
Many a times such extreme emotionally attached events trigger the “Why Me??” attitude. We wish that such dreaded situations never arise and that we may always be happy and content, but alas! Fate has a completely different plan for each of us and when we least expect; disaster strikes.
At such times I can understand when most say that there is no scientific or logical explanation for such events, that there is no reason or suitable justification for such drastic changes to happen in life. It is mainly because that our mind is so clogged up with emotions and feelings that we knowingly or unknowingly ignore the very logic and reason we accept so easily in stable conditions.
What I’m trying to say is that even the gravest of situations however heartbreaking or nerve-wrecking has a reason. We may not be able to see it or understand it just yet. But we must believe that one (a reason) exists. That I feel is faith!! You might argue by saying that if we can’t see it or reason out with it, how can we believe in it? It’s not so difficult to justify. You are not able to see “air”, yet you would conveniently laugh at any fool who claims that air does not exist, simply because he can’t see it.
Conclusion
We as humans have evolved for millions of years, acquiring ample of knowledge and understanding of or surroundings. We have gained sufficient knowledge in the fields of science to accurately predict and reason out the different events both natural and manmade at scales of large magnitudes. Yet some aspects of our life are still left unanswered, aspects that linger in the balance between reality and spirituality. Events that are packed with great emotional and psychological value; such events confuse us namely because there is no logical or scientific explanation to it. But in such grievous or significant times we should bare in mind that these events however unpleasant still happen for some definite reason. We in spite of all our knowledge and experience are still immature compared to the universe. There could be several aspects of universe and life that we are still not enlightened about. We have to believe that there is a MASTER PLAN, a reason for every happening which is much beyond our level of understanding. I would like to end with a quote by a strong believer of reason and also one of the most brilliant brains the earth has ever seen.
